For the first two lessons a minimum time of 2 hours is recommend. Once you know the basics allot of lessons will be spent in the area that the test is to be taken. Practice over the test routes will be taken in that area. A track record of the various driving disciplines is kept (marks progressing from 1 to 5). A mock test will be suggested prior to the driving test.
An initial driving assessment is made as to the level that the pupil is currently at. From then on a track record is kept showing progress made until you reach test level.
Any driving discipline can be refreshed whether it is parking in the high street or car park, approaching a roundabout, or just general driving in order to rebuild confidence (either after a long layoff or perhaps an accident).
Dual carriageway work encountered in passing a test is not the best preparation for driving on a busy motorway in the rush hour. Motorway lessons can be structured in quiet or busy times, day or night time according to the pupil’s requirements.
Pass plus is a training course designed by the DSA, with help from the motor insurance and driving instruction industries. There are six modules including Town Driving, All Weather Driving, Out of Town and Rural Driving, Night Driving, Dual Carriageways and Motorways. A minimum of six hours tuition is required to obtain the Pass Plus certificate. Once obtained this can lead to discounts on Motor Insurance Policies. This course is highly recommended as just passing your test does not make you an expert driver! Statistics show that a newly qualified driver is far more likely to have an accident in the first 2 years than any other driver on the road. Completing the Pass Plus course reduces this statistic by a great deal.
